Kentucky Gymnastics has been on the rise, as more and more Level 10’s have joined the ranks with strong performances at the Kentucky State Championship. This season featured Level 9 &10’s from 10 different clubs showcasing high-flying release moves, intricate beam & floor combinations and some very powerful vaults!
There were two age groups for the Level 10’s. Anna Kaziska, (Champion Gymnastics – 2-time J.O. National Qualifier and 2015 J.O. National Beam Champion) who suffered a leg break at the beginning of the season, won the Senior Division (37.55) with strong performances on Beam (9.6) and Floor (9.65). Sadie Bish (Legacy Gymnastics, Senior) upgraded her vault (9.175) awarding her the top spot for the senior division.
Lauren Bannister (Champion Gymnastics, Junior) fought in a much tighter race and her all around title (36.925) was clinched with the strongest vault (9.4) of the weekend. Megan Walden (Legacy Gymnastics, Junior) opened her floor routine (9.375, 2nd) with a gorgeous back 2.5 punch front tuck that was only rivaled by her teammates artistry Alexa Berezowitz (9.4 – 1st). Alexa also brought those same stylings to her 1st place beam finish (9.375).
It was an exciting session showcasing Kentucky’s up and coming level 10’s that all hope to vie for a spot on the Region V Dream Team at the 2017 Region V Championships!
